Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College baseball team finished a four-game sweep of Marshalltown Community College on Saturday, February 28 at Lee Doyen Field in Concordia. It took just five innings for the T-Birds to earn a 12-0 victory in game one, before topping the Tigers 8-3 in seven innings in the nightcap.
Cloud County has improved to 14-1 on the season and 7-0 at home.

Luke Clayton doubled to left field to drive in a run, while freshman left fielder
Kellan Burke scored another on a sacrifice fly to right field in the bottom of the first inning. Cloud County drew five straight base on balls to open the third inning. Burke delivered an RBI double to left, while sophomore catcher
Vasya Seymour drove in two more runs on a single to left field as part of a six-run third frame. Sophomore
Carter Cathers crushed a three-run home run to center field in the bottom of the fourth inning, while sophomore
Zach Miller scored on an errant throw to give Cloud County a 12-0 advantage.

Sophomore
Cole Linton improved to 4-0 on the year. Linton pitched four scoreless innings, giving up three hits and one walk while striking out six batters. Sophomore
Ben Soke closed the game, recording three outs with one strikeout in the fifth.
The T-Birds capped the series sweep with an 8-3 win in the final game of the weekend.Â
Marshalltown got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first inning on RBI singles by freshman Anderson Schirm and redshirt freshman Brady Baker. The T-Birds answered with four runs in the bottom half of the first. Baker led off the inning with a solo home run to center field. Sophomore short stop
Lucas Laukkanen later added a double to center field that scored Clayton and freshman outfielder
Kale Koch, while freshman outfielder
Calem Redding followed with a double to left to score Laukkanen.
Baker blasted his second home run of the game with a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning, while Clayton reached on an error and scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the third to extend Cloud County's lead to 6-2.
Marshalltown pushed across a run in the top of the fourth after redshirt freshman Jack Riley led off the inning with a double to right field before being brought home on a double to center field by sophomore Ty Harmsen. However, Cloud County regrouped and added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth by Baker and redshirt freshman
Tanner Jacobson.
Cloud County finished with 11 hits, including five extra-base hits, led by Baker's two home runs. Baker went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Koch had two hits, while Clayton scored two runs.
Sophomore
Evan Bogart pitched four innings of three-run baseball with only two earned runs. Bogart tallied five strikeouts on his way to his second win of the season. Freshmen
Gage Gannon and
Jackson Fox combined for three innings of one-hit baseball, allowing no runs while striking out five batters in relief.
The T-Birds next open Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play on Thursday, March 5 at home against Pratt Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm from Lee Doyen Field.
