Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College baseball team scored a pair of triumphs over No. 7 Weatherford College, defeating the Coyotes by 7-4 and 6-4 scores on Friday, February 20.

Freshman catcher Kellan Burke crushed a two-run bomb for his first home run of the season to put the T-Birds ahead 2-0 in the top of the first inning of game one.

Weatherford College matched Cloud County with two runs in the bottom half of the frame, but the T-Birds broke through in a big way in the second inning by loading the bases with no one out. Burke ripped an RBI single to right field that same inning, scoring sophomore third baseman Kaden Budke, while sophomore outfielder Carter Cathers extended the lead to 6-2 with an RBI single to left, driving in redshirt freshman Simon Baker from second.

Redshirt freshman outfielder Tanner Jacobson capped the scoring with a two-out RBI single in the fourth inning that scored sophomore first baseman Luke Clayton.

Freshman left-handed reliever Ian Razak struck out four batters across four strong innings and limited Weatherford to no runs on one hit to pick up the victory, his first of the season. In the nine-inning nightcap, Burke hit another home run to right field to give the T-Birds a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Budke and Baker later smacked back-to-back solo home runs and the T-Birds led 6-0 entering the ninth inning.

After being held scoreless through eight innings, Weatherford College strung together a ninth-inning rally, scoring four runs in the final inning. Sophomore right-hander Kai Rempel recorded a strikeout to end the game, preserving the 6-4 victory.
