Box Score The Cloud County Community College baseball team dropped its first game of the 2026 season on Tuesday, February 17, falling 9-5 to Kansas City Kansas Community College.
The T-Birds were the first team to strike when freshman
Kellan Burke's RBI single scored redshirt freshman
Simon Baker in the top of the first inning. Sophomore
Kaden Budke added a two-run double to left-center field, scoring freshman
Evan Gunn and sophomore
Lucas Laukkanen, to extend Cloud County's lead to 3-0 in the top of the second inning.
After giving up a run in the second inning and another in the fourth, Gunn singled in the infield to score Burke to make it 4-2 in the fifth.
The Blue Devils added four additional runs in the bottom half of the fifth, thanks to an RBI single by sophomore infielder Holden Finley and a three-run home run by redshirt sophomore Brady Kern.
Baker drove in a run on an RBI triple to center field to cut the deficit to 6-5 in the sixth.
Kansas City Kansas scored two runs on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt by Kern in the seventh, while redshirt sophomore Braden Horn finished the scoring with an RBI sacrifice fly to right field.
Freshman
Jackson Fox took the loss for the T-Birds, as Cloud County used seven different pitchers. The loss puts Cloud County's overall record at 6-1.
Five T-Birds recorded one run apiece. Budke led Cloud County at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored.Â
The T-Birds visit Weatherford, Texas for a three-game series against No. 7 Weatherford College, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, February 20 at 1 pm.
