Brayden Hill took sixth place at the Sioux City Open, hosted by Briar Cliff University on Saturday, January 31.
The 285 lbs. freshman from Garden City, Kansas went 3-0 to open the event. Hill recorded a fall over Braden Petersen of Buena Vista in his first match. He then posted a 19-6 major decision over Jeremiah Chuol of Iowa Lakes Community College, before earning a win by fall over Rocco Sauer of Northwestern Iowa.
In the semifinals, Hill faced Andrew Blackburn-Forst of North Dakota State University. Blackburn-Forst won by an 11-9 decision.
Hill finished the tournament as a medical forfeit in his consolation semifinal match to Jaxson Hildebrand of Northwestern Iowa, and in his fifth place match against Lee Smith Jr of Indian Hills Community College.
Hill and the rest of T-Birds wrestling team will be back in action on Wednesday, February 4 when they host a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) tri-dual against Pratt Community College and Labette Community College.
