The Cloud County Community College men's cross country team opened their 2025 season on Saturday, September 6 at the 77th annual JK Gold Classic hosted by Wichita State University. The T-Birds came away with a ninth place team finish.
The team was led by freshman
Davis Miltner who finished 49th overall in a time of 20:23.24.
Sophomore Gelasa Degefa Abdisa took 56th place in 20:36.70, and was closely followed by sophomore
Abdelaziz Benbrahim in 20:39.12 to place 63rd overall.
Other results saw freshman
Zeb Schultze take 106th with a time of 21:51.31. Freshman
Jesus Baltazar crossed the finish line in 22:00.76 for 111th place. Freshman
Korbin Dykes place 119th in 22:28.10.
The T-Birds were rounded out by freshmen
Nicholas Johnson and
Gage Taylor and sophomore
Cody Sharp. Johnson ran 23:00.88, finishing 131st. Taylor ran 23:15.15 to place 132nd overall, while Sharp followed in 133rd place with a time of 23:26.39.
Cloud County took ninth place, fourth among two-year schools behind Butler, Colby and Cowley College.
The T-Birds will return to action on Saturday, September 20 when they travel to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational beginning at 10 am.
