Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College baseball team swept a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference doubleheader over Hutchinson Community College, winning the first game 5-2 in seven innings before besting the Blue Dragons 16-4 in eight innings in the series finale on Sunday, April 6 at Lee Doyen Field.
With the doubleheader sweep, the T-Birds have improved to 26-11 and 15-5 in conference play, capturing a series win against Hutchinson for the second time in the last three seasons.
Hutchinson drew first blood in game one, jumping out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first inning. Cloud County cut the deficit to one run in the third before pulling in front with two runs in the fourth. The T-Birds added to its lead with two runs in the sixth.

Caden Marcum earned his third win of the season as he pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit with two walks and ten strikeouts. Redshirt freshman
Ben Soke pitched one scoreless inning, while freshman
Sam Brummund earned his third save of the season as he pitched the scoreless seventh.

Easton Mould finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Freshman
Vasya Seymour went 1-for-2 with three RBI. Freshman
Lucas Laukkanen had a solo home run. Sophomore
Austin Coyle had one hit and an RBI. Freshman
Kaden Budke added one hit and one run scored. Sophomore
Noah Konings finished with one hit, while freshman
Joey Marino scored one run.

Jack MacIntosh won his third game of the season in leading the T-Birds to a 16-4 win over Hutchinson in the second game of the afternoon. MacIntosh allowed two earned runs on two hits in three innings of work. Freshman
Cohen Nelson pitched the first four innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Sophomore
Aaron Boutz pitched the scoreless eighth inning.
Cloud County's offense exploded for 16 runs on 15 hits with five extra-base hits, highlighted by a three-run home run from freshman
Carter Cathers, triples from Konings,
Eric Bradicich and
Matthew Evans, and a double by Seymour.
After two scoreless innings to start the game, Cloud County scored at least one run in the next six innings, including three or more runs in four separate innings.
Evans led the T-Birds, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Carter drove in three runs with a three-run home run in the eighth. Sophomore
Nolan Freund collected two hits with two runs scored and two RBI. Bradicich, Konings and Laukkanen also added two hits each, with Laukkanen finishing with two RBI. Coyle and Seymour scored two runs apiece.
Cloud County will play its next five games out of conference play, beginning on Tuesday, April 8 when they head to Beatrice, Nebraska for a single game against the Southeast Community College Bobcats. The T-Birds will then compete in a four-game road series against the Highland Community College Scotties on Thursday, April 10 and Friday, April 11.
