Cloud County Track & Field Teams Take Small Group to Compete at Rock Chalk Classic

The Cloud County Community College women's and men's track and fields teams were back in action Saturday, April 26 as they took a small group to compete in the 2025 Rock Chalk Classic hosted by the University of Kansas.

The highlight of the weekend came in the Women's 800M Run where sophomore Mercy Angaamchaab recorded a personal-record, national qualifying time of 2:11.83 to finish in second place. Sophomore N Vanee Anchike followed in third place with a national qualifying time of 2:12.69.

Freshman Kiley Smich earned a fourth place finish in the Women's Triple Jump with a leap of 35'8.75".

On the men's side, sophomore Ethan Ochana captured a fourth place finish in the Men's 1,500M Run in a time of 4:13.94. Freshman Gelasa Abdisa placed fifth individually in a time of 4:15.48.

The full T-Birds track and field teams will be back in action as they head to Coffeyville, Kansas to compete in the 2025 Region 6/Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Championships May 1-3.
