Box Score The Cloud County Community College baseball team picked up its 35th win of the season on Tuesday, April 22, beating Doane University JV 11-1 in seven innings at Lee Doyen Field in Concordia.
This year marks the fourth straight season the T-Birds baseball program has won 35 games or more. Cloud County is ranked No. 24 in the latest NJCAA Division I Baseball Rankings and is set to play a pair of midweek Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference games at Colby Community College on Wednesday, April 23. First pitch is set for 1 pm at Young Memorial Field.
The games against the Trojans will be
livestreamed by Colby Community College.
Cloud County jumped in front of Doane University JV with three runs in the bottom of the second inning, getting back-to-back RBI doubles by redshirt freshman
Luke Clayton and freshman
Kaden Budke. The T-Birds added six more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, all with two outs. Freshman
Vasya Seymour drove in two runs on an RBI single to right field. Redshirt freshman Matt Evans followed with a run-scoring double to left. Sophomore
Nolan Freund also drove in two runs with a double to right field.
Doane's lone run came in the top of the sixth as junior Jacob Nesvara singled to score freshman Tyler Aldridge.
The T-Birds put up one run each in the sixth and seventh innings. Cloud County perfectly executed a double steal that scored Seymour in the bottom half of the sixth. The T-Birds finished the game in the seventh on a RBI sacrifice fly by sophomore
Easton Mould that scored Clayton.
Freshman
Kai Rempel got the start, tossing two scoreless innings of no-hit ball.
Evan Bogart,
Zach Sharshel,
Andrew MacNeil and
Creighton Jacobitz were all handed the ball out of the bullpen, combining to scatter eight strikeouts while allowing just three hits over the final five innings of the game.
