Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College baseball team opened up Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play on Thursday, March 6, sweeping a doubleheader at Pratt by scores of 5-4 in eight innings and 12-0.
The T-Birds rallied with five unanswered runs to pick up the win in game one. Sophomore
Noah Konings keyed the rally with two runs, including stealing home with two-outs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 3-all to force extra-innings.
The comeback began in the top of the sixth when Konings roped a one-out double to left. Sophomore
Austin Coyle then lined an RBI single to right to score Konings.
Redshirt freshman
David Simmons reached on an error with one-out in the top of the seventh. Simmons stole a base before scoring on a passed ball to cut the deficit to one run.

Kaden Budke both drew two-out walks while freshman
Carter Cathers was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Konings then made a great steal of home during
Lucas Laukkanen's at-bat, catching the Beavers off-guard, tying the game at 3.
Simmons delivered the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth, driving home sophomore
Nolan Freund on a single to left to put the T-Birds up 4-3. Freshman
Joey Marino followed with a double to left to score Simmons.
The T-Bird defense turned a 6-4-3 double play in the bottom half of the frame, while freshman pitcher
Sam Brummund struck out Jaylen Edwards to end the game.
Brummund earned the win in relief. The right-hander from Omaha, Nebraska pitched the final two innings, allowing no runs and no hits while striking out one and walking two.
Pratt scored one run in the bottom of the first off an RBI double to right by Quinn Johnson. Johnson again doubled to right to put two on the bases in the bottom of the fifth. Eli Patrick followed with a single to center, scoring Johnson and Gunner Hewitt to extend its lead to 3-0.
Sophomore
Caden Marcum started the game for the T-Birds. Marcum allowed two runs on three hits in 4 1/3 innings of work. Marcum walked three and struck out six in the no-decision.
Konings and Simmons each scored two runs in the win.
Cloud County closed out the doubleheader with a decisive 12-0 win. The T-Birds racked up 12 hits in the game and eight different players had at least one hit.
Konings started the contest off with a one-out triple to center in the top of the first inning. Simmons scored Konings on an RBI double to left. Marino brought Simmons across on an RBI single to left to lead 2-0.
A sacrifice fly to center by Freund scored Coyle in the top of the second. Sophomore
Gannon White scored on a Coyle bunt in the top of the sixth. The T-Birds then tallied eight runs in the top of the seventh to push the score to 12-0.
Sophomore
Jack MacIntosh improved his record to 2-1 on this season with the win. He allowed only two hits while striking out six in his six innings of work. Freshman
Stocton Timbrook worked the final scoreless inning.
Seven of Cloud County's 12 hits were extra-base hits. Konings finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Budke was 2-for-3 with one run scored. Freund was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, one RBI and one run scored. Sophomore catcher
Cam Macleod finished 2-for-4 with two RBI. Konings, Simmons, Coyle and White scored two runs each.Â

The T-Birds return to Lee Doyen Field in Concordia on Saturday, March 8 for the final two games in their conference series with Pratt. Game one is scheduled for a 1 pm start.
