The Cloud County Community College men's track and field team won six events at the Mark A. Phillips Invitational in Arkansas City, Kansas on Saturday, March 29.
On the track, freshman
Barafa Abdulazis scored a first place finish in the Men's 400M Dash in a time of 48.16. Freshman
Abdelaziz Benbrahim notched a first place finish in the Men's 800M Run in a time of 2:00.18. Freshman
Gelasa Abdisa recorded a first place finish in the Men's 5,000M in a time of 17:04.21. Sophomore
Ethan Ochana captured a first place finish in the Men's 3,000M Steeplechase in a time of 10:19.37.
In field events, freshman
Bailey Burns posted a first place finish in the Men's Long Jump with a leap of 22'9". Sophomore
Koy Behnke was sixth overall in the Men's Long Jump with a jump of 20'3.5", while freshman
Cody Sharp followed in seventh place with a leap of 19'0.75".
Sophomore
Josh Shelly scored a first place finish in the Men's Hammer Throw with a throw of 170'9". Freshman Timothy
Asa Berry finished in eighth place in the Men's Hammer Throw with a throw of 137'1".
In the Men's Javelin, freshman
Andrew Bowman earned a first place finish with a throw of 199'9". Freshman
DJ Hollman was sixth overall in the Men's Javelin with a throw of 153'5".
Benbrahim added a runner-up finish in the Men's 1,500M Run in a time of 4:03.22. Abdisa placed sixth overall in the Men's 1,500M Run in a time of 4:13.12.
Behnke turned in a third place finish in the Men's 110M Hurdles in a time of 19.43. Sharp followed in fourth place in a time of 22.26.
Behnke also placed eighth overall in the Men's High Jump at a height of 5'5.75".
Sophomore
Andre Smikle posted a third place finish in the Men's Discus with a national qualifying mark of 158'5". Berry finished sixth overall in the Men's Discus with a toss of 142'0".
Smikle added a fifth place finish in the Men's Shot Put at a distance of 44'9".
Abdulazis finished in fifth place in the Men's 200M Run in a time of 21.62.
The Cloud County men's track and field team will return to action at the Friends University Spring Open April 3-5 at Adair-Austin Stadium on the campus of Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.
