Following their second Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference series sweep of the 2025 season, the Cloud County Community College baseball program is now among the top 25 teams in the land.
For the first time this season, the T-Birds entered the NJCAA Division I Baseball Rankings, checking in at No. 24. Cloud County is one of three Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference schools nationally ranked, and is the only west division team in the latest top 25 poll released Monday, March 17.
Coach Eric Gilliland's team has won eleven straight games, a streak that began with a 7-6 road win over No. 1 Weatherford College in Weatherford, Texas on March 1. Since that time, Cloud County has swept back-to-back four-game conference series' over Pratt Community College and Dodge City Community College to begin conference play, sandwiched around a pair of home wins over Kansas Wesleyan University JV. The 11-game win streak is the longest for the T-Birds under Gilliland. Previously, the T-Birds had two different nine game winning streaks in the spring of 2022.
The program record for most consecutive wins is 21 set in 1987.
Cloud County is 19-5 overall and is out to an 8-0 start to begin conference play for the second consecutive season. The T-Birds are ranked first in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division in team ERA, tied for third-best in batting average, third in on-base percentage, second in extra-base hits, second in stolen bases, and second in team-fielding percentage.
The T-Birds return to action Thursday, March 20 at Lawson-Biggs Field in Great Bend, Kansas to open a four-game Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference series against Barton Community College. Barton is currently in second place in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division standings after a 7-1 start. Barton has a 12-4 overall record. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
