Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College baseball team captured a pair of road wins against Kansas Wesleyan JV on Monday, February 3 at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina, Kansas. The T-Birds took the opening game with a comfortable 16-4 win, before grabbing the night cap, 13-1 in five innings.
The T-Birds collected 11 hits and 13 RBI during the opening game. Sophomore
Noah Konings had three hits and two RBI and scored three runs to lead the team. Freshman
Joey Marino picked up two hits and three RBI in the game. Sophomore
Austin Coyle added two hits, three runs and two RBI. Redshirt freshman
David Simmons also had two hits and two RBI, while freshmen
Carter Cathers and
Vasya Seymour each had extra base hits in the game.
On the mound, freshman
Evan Bogart hurled three scoreless frames with five strikeouts and only one hit allowed to earn the win. Freshman
Kai Rempel started the game, totaling two innings with four strikeouts and five hits with three earned runs allowed. Redshirt freshmen
Hayden Malaise and
Ben Soke pitched one inning each in relief.
After a scoreless first, Kansas Wesleyan senior Brock Schramme doubled to right-center, driving in two runs in the bottom of the second. Sophomore Tyler Fink followed with an RBI single to right, scoring Schramme. Cloud County responded with four runs in the top of the third, including a one-out two-RBI single to left by Marino. The T-Birds later added two more runs in the fourth and five more runs in the fifth to build a comfortable cushion. Seymour brought a run home on an RBI double to center, while Konings, Marino and Simmons each had RBI singles in the fifth. Cloud County plated five more runs in the seventh on three hits, including an RBI double to left by Cathers.
Cathers added two more hits with a double and four RBI, while sophomore
Easton Mould posted a pair of hits and two RBI in the second game of the doubleheader. Mould, Marino and Konings each scored twice during game two.
On the hill, Cloud County threw five pitchers one inning each. Freshman
Cole Linton started the game, recording one strikeout with three hits and one run allowed.
Stocton Timbrook,
Cohen Nelson,
Sam Brummond and
Tyler Gagnon combined to holdd Kansas Wesleyan scoreless over the next four innings. Nelson struck out all three batters he faced.
Cathers, Konings,
Eric Bradicich,
Kaden Budke,
Matthew Evans,
Nolan Freund,
Zach Miller and
Gannon White all added runs in the win.Â
The T-Birds are out to a 3-0 start for the third time in the last four seasons. Cloud County will return to action on Thursday, February 6 when they host McCook Community College for the second time in five days. First pitch against the Indians is scheduled for 2:30 pm at Lee Doyen Field in Concordia.
