The Cloud County Community College women's cross country team moved up one spot to No. 19 in the 2025 NJCAA Division I Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, which was released Wednesday, October 15 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Cloud County last competed October 4 at the 37th annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, hosted by the University of Arkansas. The T-Birds delivered two top-10 finishes in the Prairie Fire Pepper 5K, led by sophomore
Mercy Angaamchaab who finished in third place with a time of 18:04.8. Sophomore
Nontokozo Ncube followed closely behind in sixth place with a time of 18:25.1.
Freshmen
Maureen Jepchirchir and
McKenzie Baker completed the scoring for Cloud County. Jepchirchir captured a 22nd place finish with a time of 19:18.7, while Baker rounded out the scoring by finishing 68th with a time of 20:28.5.
Cloud County will begin their postseason at the 2025 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference/NJCAA Region 6 Women's and Men's Cross Country Championships, set for Friday, October 24 at Meadow Lake Golf Course in Colby, Kansas. Hosted by Colby Community College, the men's 8K race will start at 10 am, while the women's 5K race will start at 10:45 am.
The 2025 NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Saturday, November 8 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
