Cloud County Community College freshman Maimuna Jallow was named this week's Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday, January 29.

Jallow delivered two first-place wins at the NAIA/Juco Challenge in Pittsburg, Kansas on January 25, setting new meet records in the 60M Dash in a national qualifying time of 7.35 and in the 200M Dash in a national qualifying time of 24.39. Jallow's performance helped power the Cloud County women's indoor track and field team to a second place team finish at the meet.

Currently, the Cloud County women's indoor track and field team is ranked No. 2 in the country in the first Track & Field Rating Index released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The women's team also lands at No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Central Region with 437 points, ahead of Barton (434.62), Coffeyville (230.13), Cowley (194.99) and Hutchinson (169.71).

For the season, Jallow ranks second in the country in the 200M (24.39). Additionally, the 4x400M team of Jallow, sophomores Nontokozo Ncube and Rafiatu Nuhu, and freshman Tahlia Lienert ranks second overall (3:50.29).

The T-Birds next will take part in the Herm Wilson Invitational at the Heskett Center at Wichita State University on Friday, January 31, and at the Washburn Open & Multis at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1.
