T-Birds Remain Perfect In KJCCC Following 3-1 Win At Pratt

Box Score

PRATT, Kan. - An early 1-0 lead would be followed up with two additional goals for the Cloud County Community College women's soccer team in a 3-1 road victory over Pratt Community College at the Pratt Soccer Field in Pratt, Kansas on Wednesday, September 11th.

With their fifth straight victory, CCCC is now 5-2-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference while the Beavers fall to 2-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the KJCCC.

Despite seeing reigning KJCCC player of the week Izabella Christina held without a goal for the first time in four games, it would be the play of sophomore Aroa Nieto as the Madrid, Spain native would open the scoring in the minute off a pass from Christina. The Beavers would respond with a goal just one minute later on a pass on a drive on the near side of the field to beat T-Bird keeper Thaynara Soares near post and tie things up at 1-1.

Adding to the quick scoring explosion, CCCC would get on the board again in the 17th minute with Christina providing another assist with a goal by Franciele Cupertino as the 2-1 score would hold at the half following 45 minutes of action.

An insurance goal for the T-Birds would be found in the 51st minute as Nieto would net her second goal of the afternoon with Cupertino recording her third point of the day by providing an assist. Defense would then take over for Cloud County as Pratt would be unable to make any real threat at getting back into the game with the T-Birds coming away with the victory.

Outside of the lone goal by the Beavers, it would be all CCCC from an offensive perspective as Cloud County would outshoot PCC by a final mark of 37-3. Of the seven total corner kicks in the contest, five would be earned by the T-Birds while both saves in the contest would come by Pratt. Individually, Christina would lead all players with 10 total shots while Thaina Cavalcante would register seven. Seven different players for Cloud County would put up a shot in the contest, with five players putting up at least four shots.
