Box Score ARKANSAS CITY, Kansas — The Cloud County Community College men's soccer team had its season come to an end Sunday in a bizarre, 6-1 loss in the second round of the Region VI Playoffs to No. 5 ranked Cowley College.
Cloud County (13-5-1 overall) was able to take an early 1-0 lead on a goal from sophomore midfielder Baptiste Bissessur; his seventh of the season.
Unfortunately, things began to unravel for the T-Birds as sophomore goalkeeper Charles Albuquerque, who had saved all four shots he faced to begin the game, received a straight red card in the first half for a handball outside of the goalie box.
Sophomore backup goalkeeper Kegan Lammering made five saves in emergency duty, but Cowley College (16-0 overall) took advantage of the momentum swing. The Tigers tied the game up at 1-1 before halftime, then exploded for five second-half goals to capture the 6-1 victory and move on to next weekend's Plains District Tournament in Texas.
The loss to the undefeated Tigers was a disappointing end to an otherwise successful first season for the T-Birds under head coach Charles Long as they rallied from a slow 1-3 start to the year to record double-digit victories (13) for the fourth straight season.
