Duliep's first career goal lifts Cloud County to double-overtime road win over Hutchinson

Box Score

HUTCHINSON, Kansas — Freshman defender Yohanna Duliep played hero on Sunday for the Cloud County Community College women's soccer team, scoring the game-winning goal in the T-Birds' 3-2 double overtime victory over Hutchinson Community College.

Duliep, affectionately known as "Yo-Yo" by her teammates, capped a roller coaster of an afternoon for the T-Birds (11-3 overall, 9-2 KJCCC West) as she capitalized on a poor clearing attempt by Hutchinson (13-2-1 overall, 8-2-1 KJCCC West) and snuck a shot underneath the crossbar.

The first goal of Duliep's career lifted Cloud County to the top spot in the KJCCC West standings with one game remaining against the Blue Dragons at 1 p.m. Monday to conclude the regular season. A win or a tie will guarantee the T-Birds the KJCCC West crown in the program's first year back since 2013.

Sunday's action got off to an ideal start for Cloud County as freshmen Maryanne de Castro and Joana Villanova scored 56 seconds apart to give the T-Birds a 2-0 lead just seven minutes into the contest.

Cloud held that 2-0 advantage at the half, but the Blue Dragons rallied to tie the score with a pair of second-half goals, aided by some defensive breakdowns by the T-Birds, with 18:52 remaining.

"We switched our formation up at half time because we knew Hutch was going to come at us," said Cloud County head coach, James Ross said. "We didn't listen to the game plan at half time and allowed two goals off of mistakes."

The T-Birds were able to regroup and keep Hutchinson off the scoreboard the rest of the way, setting up Duliep's heroics 2:39 into the second overtime.

Cloud County will look to feed off the momentum when the two conference foes battle it out for the KJCCC West crown at 1 p.m. Monday in Concordia.
