Box Score

Concordia, KS-  The Cloud County Men's soccer team opened their season on Friday as they hosted the Central Community College Raiders out of Columbus, Nebraska. Despite the early morning and midafternoon rain showers, the T-Birds and Raiders squared off with Cloud rolling to a 6-0 victory and a 1-0 start to the 2016 season.

Cloud scored early and often. The T-Birds got on the board in the twelfth minute when Cloud's  Skyler Muzzy found the back of the net. Muzzy had entered the game and was playing for less than two minutes before he scored the first goal. It was assisted by Roberto Gomes.

Six more minutes had gone by and the Thunderbird's Luiz Garcia got his chance at a free kick and scored from thirty yards out tacking on another score for the Thunderbirds, making it 2-0.  Shortly after, Ryan Medilah had a runout solo shot and punched one in to extend the lead to 3-0. Just over fifteen minutes were left in the first half as Medilah scored his second one of the day making it 4-0, and that was the score at the intermission.

After the halftime break Cloud's aggressive scoring streak continued. Skyler Muzzy quickly scored his second goal of the day making it 5-0. With just twelve minutes to play in regulation, Aleksandar Pumpalovic got his chance at a penalty kick and beat the Central goalie pushing the final score to 6-0. The Thunderbirds earned the win and the shutout at home as they beat Central CC (NE) in dominating fashion.

Cloud County will not only resume action on Thursday, September 1st but they will also start conference play against Garden City CC.
