Box Score

LINDSBORG, Kansas — The No. 8 Cloud County men's soccer team polished off its undefeated regular season Monday night, shining under the lights in Lindsborg with a 5-0 non-conference victory over the Swedes.

Monday's matchup served its purpose as the final tune-up for the T-Birds (15-0-1 overall, 11-0-1 Region VI West) before Thursday's Region VI Tournament first-round matchup against Neosho County Community College, the No. 4 seed out of the East.

Cloud County outshot Bethany 49-5, and had 26 shots on goal versus the Swedes' one shot.

"The first 25 minutes were beautiful. We played side-to-side, one-touch and two-touch soccer with an extra pep in our step," said Cloud County head coach, James Ross. "The guys looked like Barcelona tonight."

A pair of freshmen got Cloud County on the scoreboard as James Ndubueze opened up the scoring 29:20 into the game, assisted by freshman Reda Chakof.

Marcos Gomes upped the T-Birds lead to 2-0 just 43 seconds later, burying a feed from freshman Ryan Medilah. Cloud County would carry that 2-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the T-Birds put the game away early as Rafael Santos scored an unassisted goal four minutes into the half, and Chakof added another unassisted goal nine minutes later to give his team a commanding 4-0 lead.

At the 82:52 mark, freshman left-back Joseph Mosley scored his first career goal, assisted by fellow freshman Sami Sabrah, to put the bow on the T-Birds' 5-0 victory.

Cloud County will look to keep the momentum rolling when it opens up Region VI postseason action at home Thursday versus Neosho County Community College. Start time is set for 2 p.m.

If the No. 1 seeded T-Birds win, they'll host the winner of the Kansas City Kansas Community College-Dodge City Community College matchup at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
