Cloud Sweeps Conference Road-Trip

Box Score 1 | Box Score 4

The Cloud County Men's Soccer program entered the year with high expectations. They were picked as the preseason favorite to win the Kansas Jayhawk Conference. After two early season hiccups, they were looking up from the bottom of the league. It appears that recently, the T-Birds have begun to hit stride. Cloud has won four straight including three road games on a recent road swing to Coffeyville, Neosho, and Allen County.

Cloud first traveled to Coffeyville to take on a 4-3 Red Raven squad. Cloud fell behind early 1-0, but were able to tie the game 1-1 on a goal from Leonardo Catarina late in the first half. The second half was all Cloud County. Goals from Catarina, Connor Halpin, and Ajuma Johnson sealed the game as the T-Birds won 4-1.

The T-Birds then traveled to Neosho County on Wednesday. Cloud attempted 26 shots to Neosho's five, but only scored once. That was all they would need as they held Neosho scoreless and won 1-0. It was Ajuma Johnson with the late goal, assisted by Shaquille Folks that gave Cloud the win.

Allen County was the third and final stop on the trip. The T-Birds jumped out and grabbed a first half lead on a goal from Halpin. Ajuma Johnson scored early in the 2nd half to give the T-Birds a 2-0 lead. Goals from Saindou Ali, and Gabriel Chavez put the game on ice and the T-Birds won 4-0.

During their four game winning streak through conference play, Cloud outscored opponents by the score of 11-3. They have now climbed into 2nd place in the Jayhawk West.

The T-Birds will now rest up as they are off until October 3rd. They will host Cowley County, who is currently 3-5 overall.
