The Cloud County Community College men's cross country team is ranked No. 21 in the Week 1 edition of the 2026 NJCAA Division I Men's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, which was released Wednesday, September 23 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The T-Birds opened the 2026 season on September 5 at the 78th annual JK Gold Classic at Clapp Cross Country Course in Wichita, Kansas, followed by an 8k race at the 37th annual Missouri Southern Stampede, hosted by Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri on September 19. Sophomore
Davis Miltner has led the T-Birds at both meets, including recording a 110th place finish at the Missouri Southern Stampede in 27:08.5.
The 2026 squad is an experienced group for Cloud County, with Miltner,
Jesus Baltazar,
Nicholas Johnson and
Zeb Schultze all returning from a year ago. The T-Birds have freshmen
Chevhoun Connolly,
Santiago Del Moral and
Maiwand Mohammad Rasool providing great depth.
Cloud County will race next in Cowley College's Tiger Ambush XC Open in Winfield, Kansas on Friday, October 2. The men race at 9 am, followed by the women at 9:45 am.
