Cohen Nelson has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday, April 7.
Nelson, a left-hander from Grand Island, Nebraska, held Hutchinson in check as the T-Birds defeated the Blue Dragons 6-2 in game one of a KJCCC doubleheader on Saturday, April 4. Nelson, making his fifth start of the season, gave up one run on one hit over 5.2 innings, improving his record to 2-0. Nelson struck out a career-high 11 and now has 25 strikeouts in three conference starts this season. He retired eight in a row at one point in the contest.
Nelson's honor marks the Cloud County baseball program's seventh KJCCC weekly award of the 2026 season.
The T-Birds are ranked inside the top-five in the NJCAA Division I Baseball Rankings Presented by Netting Professionals for the fifth time this season. The T-Birds are slotted at No. 5 in the latest rankings, which were released Monday, April 6.
Cloud County has six ranked wins this season while compiling a 32-4 overall record and a 17-3 mark in KJCCC play.
