Box Score The Cloud County Community College men's basketball team used an incredible 28-6 run over a ten-minute stretch in the first-half to build a 22-point lead on their way to a 90-70 home victory over Colby Community College in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) action on Saturday, February 7. The T-Birds shot over 56 percent from the field with eight made three-pointers while holding a 42-30 advantage in points in the paint and a 17-10 advantage in fast-break points en route to scoring 90 points or more for the eleventh time this season, including the third time in the last four games.
Cloud County also shot over 50 percent from the field for the ninth time this season. Sophomore guard
Syncere Burnette led four T-Birds in double-figures with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting and three triples. Burnette added a team-high five assists and five rebounds. Sophomore guard
DJ Holloway scored in double-digits for the fourth consecutive game, scoring 15 points to go with six rebounds and a team-best six steals. Freshman forward
D'ontez Walker added 14 points and six rebounds, while sophomore forward
Elidjah Savane had 13 points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

K'mari Holt recorded eight points off the bench with two made three-pointers. Freshman guard
Kaidan Chatham scored seven points while providing three rebounds. Sophomore guard

The T-Birds also found success at the free-throw line throughout the game, going 18-of-26 (69.2 percent) from the foul line, while Colby was limited to just nine made free-throws.
Tied at 9 with under 15 minutes to go in the first-half, Cloud County went on a 28-6 run to grab a 37-15 lead with less than six minutes to play before halftime. Savane started the spurt with four straight points in the paint. The T-Birds added two three-pointers from Holt and one each from Burnette and Holloway. The T-Birds kept Colby at a distance, maintaining a 16-point lead, 44-28, at the intermission.
The second half started off with the T-Birds pushing their lead out to 23 points on a fast-break layup by Burnette with 14:40 left in the contest. Cloud County would maintain a comfortable lead for the remainder of the contest, as Colby would get no closer than 19 points. Cloud County went up by 25 points on a jumper by Chatham with 6:33 remaining, and the T-Birds eventually built their cushion out to 28 points in the closing minutes.
Cloud County shot 59.3 percent (16-of-27) from the field and held Colby to a 40.0 percent clip (16-of-40) in the second-half.
With the win, Cloud County has snapped a two-game losing skid to improve its record to 13-10 overall and 8-9 in KJCCC play. On Wednesday, February 11, Cloud County travels to Coffeyville to face the red-hot Coffeyville Red Ravens. Coffeyville has won three of its last four games, including back-to-back victories over Cowley College and Dodge City. Tip-off from Nellis Hall is set for 7:30 pm.
