The Cloud County Community College volleyball team is set to host No. 17 Barton Community College in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play inside Arley Bryant Gymnasium Wednesday, October 7, with first serve set for 6:30 pm.
The T-Birds come into the midweek match with an 8-8 overall record and a 2-5 mark in KJCCC play. Cloud County most recently topped Garden City Community College in three sets, 25-12, 25-22, 25-10, at Conestoga Arena in Garden City, Kansas on Saturday, October 3. Cloud County swept Garden City for the second time this season.
Freshman outside hitter
Karina Castellar led the way for the T-Birds with 11 kills on a career-best .500 attack percentage to go with four digs and a career-high three blocks. Freshman outside hitter
Samira Bousri recorded nine kills on a .310 hitting percentage, 11 digs, one block and one service ace. Freshman middle hitter
Kynlee Hamel matched a season-high with six kills on a .385 attack percentage, a career-high five blocks and one service ace. Freshman outside hitter
Dora Kuburovic finished with six kills, a career-high 22 digs and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter
Kenadie Casanova added two kills, two blocks and a dig.
Freshman setter
Giulia Todesco had 28 assists while adding nine digs, a career-high four service aces and three kills.
Sophomore libero
Brooke Lougheed had eight digs and one service ace. Sophomore defensive specialist
Addyson Ogle finished with four digs, while freshman libero
Addison Allen had two digs.
Barton marches into Wednesday's contest winners of five in a row. Last week, the Cougars won a four-set road match at Hutchinson Community College before sweeping Seward County Community College at home. Barton is 16-7 overall and 6-2 in KJCCC action.
Cloud County and Barton will meet for the first time this season. Barton has won six consecutive meetings and nine of the last 11 with the T-Birds. Cloud County's last home win over the Cougars was a three-set victory on September 10, 2022.
Cloud County is averaging 10.3 kills, 10.0 assists, 15.0 digs and 1.2 blocks per set. The T-Birds are holding opponents to a .178 hitting percentage.
Bousri leads the way offensively with 3.64 kills per set, which ranks fifth best in KJCCC Division I, while hitting .221. Bousri has 35 service aces on the season, the fourth most in the KJCCC. Bousri also adds 3.18 digs per set, which is ninth best in the conference.
Castellar ranks second on the team with 2.39 kills per set, while freshman outside hitter
Dora Kuburovic adds 1.98 kills per set.
Todesco continues to run the offense, averaging 8.74 assists per set, the second best mark in KJCCC Division I.
At the net, freshman middle hitter
Bella Ikard and sophomore middle hitter
Julieanne Sandoval have combined for 46 total blocks on the season.
In the back row, Lougheed ranks fourth in the conference with 3.41 digs per set. Todesco provides 2.15 digs per set. Ogle adds 1.63 digs per set, while Allen is averaging 1.49 digs per set.
