Box Score The Cloud County Community College men's basketball team's defense struggled against Cowley College, allowing the Tigers to shoot over 61 percent from the field as the T-Birds dropped a 95-86 home decision on Wednesday, January 28 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play.

The T-Birds fell to 12-9 overall and 7-8 in KJCCC action.

The T-Birds trailed by as many as 16 with 5:30 left in the game, and as they've done in the past few games, Cloud County mounted a late rally but couldn't get closer than seven points. Cowley College built its lead back up to double figures before a layup with seven seconds remaining cut the final difference to nine points.

Cloud County had four players score in double-digits, led by sophomore guard DJ Holloway's 24 points, five rebounds and three assists. Freshman guard Kaidan Chatham scored 15 points to go with four rebounds. Freshman guard Kam Williams finished with 11 points, while sophomore guard Kuel Akot had 13 points.

Cowley College also had four players in double-figures, led by sophomore guard Roman Miller's 21 points with three made three-pointers.

Cowley College shot 40-of-65 (61.5 percent) from the field and 9-of-12 (75.0 percent) from the free-throw line. The Tigers finished with six makes from deep, and outscored Cloud County 62-44 in points in the paint.

The first-half featured nine lead changes and eight ties, with Cloud County holding its biggest lead at 36-28 on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Syncere Burnette at the 5:43 mark. Cowley College ended the half on a 14-6 run to knot the game at 42-all at the intermission. Kuel Akot led the T-Birds with 11 points in the first-half, going 4-of-5 from the field and 3-of-3 from behind the arc.

Cloud County goes on the road to take on No. 22 Dodge City Community College on Saturday, January 31 at 3 pm. The game will be broadcast by ConqTV.
