Box Score The Cloud County Community College men's basketball team defeated the Independence Pirates, 94-64, on Saturday, January 17 at Arley Bryant Gymnasium. The T-Birds have won five straight, improving their record to 11-7 overall and 6-6 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play.

Cloud County found early success in the paint, grabbing a six point lead at 8-2 at the 17:32 mark. Independence sparked a 14-7 run to take a one point lead at 16-15 with 12:55 remaining in the first-half. Three straight free-throws followed by a three-pointer by Williams put Cloud County up 21-18 with 10:38 left in the half. The Pirates tied the game at 22, but a layup by Walker gave the T-Birds the lead again at the 9:01 mark.
Cloud County extended their lead to double-digits at 42-32 on a three-pointer by sophomore guard
Syncere Burnette with 2:51 remaining in the first-half. The T-Birds built its lead out to as many as 16 points and led 50-36 at halftime.
Cloud County opened the second-half on a 14-0 run, holding Independence scoreless for the first 4:45, to make it 64-36. Savane converted on a pair of free-throws to extend the T-Birds' lead to 30 points at 70-40 with 13:14 to play. Cloud County led by as many as 34 points while Independence never got closer than 24 points the rest of the way.
The T-Birds shot 34-of-65 (52.3 percent) from the field, 4-of-16 (25.0 percent) from three-point range, and 22-of-36 (61.1 percent) from the free-throw line. Independence shot 24-of-81 (29.6 percent) from the field, 4-of-23 (17.4 percent) from behind the arc, and 12-of-12 (100.0 percent) from the foul line.
Cloud County dominated the glass, outrebounding the Pirates 55-35. Burnette led the T-Birds with eight rebounds to go with six assists and five points. Savane, Stackhouse and Walker had seven rebounds apiece. Sophomore guard

The T-Birds matched a season-high with nine blocked shots.
During its five game winning streak, the T-Birds are averaging 96.0 points per game and have a plus-19.4 scoring margin.
Cloud County will travel to Liberal, Kansas to face the Seward County Saints on Wednesday, January 21 at 8 pm. The T-Birds previously beat the Saints, 85-65, on November 19, 2025.
