Box Score The Cloud County Community College volleyball team faced a tough test to open Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play on Saturday, September 6, falling in straights sets on the road to No. 6 Colby Community College at the Colby Event Center in Colby, Kansas. The hard-hitting Trojans dominated the opening set, 25-10, before earning set wins of 25-19 and 25-17.
The loss drops Cloud County to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in KJCCC play.
The T-Birds were held to a .138 hitting percentage, led by sophomore
Grace Rowland's six kills. Sophomore
Carlie Carlgren had five kills on a .333 attack percentage. Freshman
Elizabeth Schuster had four kills on a .444 attack percentage, while sophomore
Iza Caroline da Silva and freshman
Kenadie Casanova finished with three kills each.
Freshmen setters
Ylvie Schmid and
Brooke Lougheed both dished out nine assists. Schmid led the team with ten digs, while Lougheed added eight digs. Sophomore libero
Berkleigh Curtis tallied seven digs in the loss.
The T-Birds return to action on Monday, September 8 to face the Southeast Community College Bobcats (3-6) in non-conference play. Cloud County previously beat the Bobcats at a home triangular on August 27 in four-sets, 25-20, 25-27, 25-21, 25-22. The T-Birds have won 13 straight matches against Southeast, dating back to 2015. First serve between the T-Birds and Bobcats is scheduled for 6 pm from the Lincoln Campus Gymnasium in Lincoln, Nebraska.
