The Cloud County Community College volleyball team begins Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) action this weekend with a road match against No. 6 Colby Community College. The match will be held Saturday, September 6 at 2 pm. The match will be
livestreamed by Colby Community College.
Cloud County is 4-7 overall and has lost back-to-back matches, including a five set road loss to Neosho County Community College on September 1. Colby has won three straight matches against Cloud County and five of the last six matches in the series. The last meeting was November 5, 2024 in Concordia, a 3-0 Colby sweep.
Sophomore outside hitter
Grace Rowland is leading the T-Birds with 2.92 kills per set, which ranks in the top ten in the KJCCC. Rowland is coming off a career-high 23 kills on a .305 attack percentage to go with a career-high 25 digs and four blocks in Cloud County's five set loss to Neosho County. The match marked Rowland's fourth match in her career with 20 or more kills.
Sophomore pin hitter
Carlie Carlgren is averaging 2.44 kills per set for the T-Birds. After missing the first four matches of the year, Carlgren has tallied 63 kills, 35 digs and nine service aces in seven matches played.
Freshmen middle hitters
Elizabeth Schuster and
Zoey Sudbeck add 57 kills and 54 kills, respectively. Sudbeck leads the team with 28 blocks, while Schuster is second on the team with 24 blocks. Schuster's .276 attack percentage ranks eighth in the conference.
Freshman right side hitter
Kenadie Casanova adds 50 kills, 40 digs and 23 blocks.
Freshman setter
Ylvie Schmid is averaging 6.95 assists per set, which ranks fifth in the KJCCC. Freshman
Brooke Lougheed adds 3.09 assists per set and has 114 digs and 12 service aces. Redshirt freshman
Addyson Ogle is averaging 3.05 assists per set to go with 43 digs and ten service aces.
Sophomore libero
Beatrice Giusti guides the Cloud County back row with 3.68 digs per set, which ranks sixth in the KJCCC.
Colby will host its second Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference match after sweeping Garden City Community College on September 3. The Trojans enter this weekend's match at 7-2 overall with losses to Northeastern Junior College and Laramie County Community College.
The Trojans have the top scoring team in the conference, averaging 17.9 points per set on a .230 attack percentage with an average of 13.7 kills per set.
Sophomore outside hitter Karlotta Kattai leads the KJCCC with 4.56 kills per set and is hitting .227. Freshman outside hitter Lena Mihaljica averages 2.58 kills per set. Defensively, freshman libero Anita Ferri ranks fifth in the KJCCC with 3.78 digs per set.
