Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College volleyball team went 1-1 at a home triangular on Saturday, September 13. The T-Birds fell in four sets to Labette Community College, 15-25, 16-25, 25-18, 15-25. In the second matchup, the T-Birds picked up a 3-0 sweep against Southwestern Community College with set scores of 25-15, 25-21, 25-17.
In the first matchup, the T-Birds finished with 22 hitting errors, eight service errors and 11 reception errors while being held to a .083 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Grace Rowland led the team with 11 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore
Carlie Carlgren notched eight kills. Redshirt freshman
Addyson Ogle had 32 assists, while sophomore libero
Berkleigh Curtis recorded 13 digs and sophomore middle blocker
Tori Sanders finished with four blocks.
In the matchup against Southwestern, the T-Birds were led by sophomore
Iza Caroline da Silva with 11 kills on a .269 attack percentage. Rowland tallied 10 kills on a .258 attack percentage to go with nine digs. Freshman
Elizabeth Schuster added nine kills on a team-best .818 attack percentage with two service aces. Sophomore
Reachert Chiquin recorded five service aces and had 10 digs. Ogle had 32 assists and seven digs, while Curtis led the team with 13 digs.
With the split, Cloud County moves to 5-11 on the season and has improved to 3-1 on their own home floor.
The T-Birds will return to action on Wednesday, September 17 when they host Hutchinson Community College in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play. Hutchinson, underneath new head coach Dayana Acevedo Trent, is 5-6 overall and 1-2 in conference action. The Blue Dragons have lost three of their last four matches, including back-to-back losses to Colby and Garden City. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 pm from Arley Bryant Gymnasium in Concordia.
