The Cloud County Community College volleyball team will host its second of three home triangulars on Saturday, September 13. The T-Birds will be joined by Labette Community College and Southwestern Community College inside Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
Cloud County (4-10) will take on Labette (11-6) at 1 pm to kick off the triangular before closing the day against Southwestern (2-12) at 5 pm. The Cardinals and the Spartans will face off in the middle match, scheduled for 3 pm.
Cloud County enters the contest off a three-set road loss to Garden City Community College in Kansas Jayhawk Communiy College Conference (KJCCC) play on September 10. Sophomore
Carlie Carlgren led the T-Birds with five kills, followed by sophomore
Grace Rowland with four kills and seven digs. Redshirt freshman setter
Addyson Ogle had 13 assists, while sophomore libero
Berkleigh Curtis led the team with nine digs.
The T-Birds offense has been led this season by Rowland, who has 122 kills. Carlgren is second on the team in kills with 80. Freshman
Ylvie Schmid leads the team with 147 assists, an average of 6.13 assists per set, while freshman
Brooke Lougheed follows with 118. Freshman
Elizabeth Schuster has 17 service aces, while Lougheed and Rowland have 13 each.
Defensively, sophomore
Beatrice Giusti's 140 digs, an average of 3.68 digs per set, is a team-high. Lougheed follows with 127, while Rowland rounds out the top-three with 117. Freshman
Zoey Sudbeck leads the net defense with 30 total blocks on the season, averaging 0.75 blocks per set. Schuster closely follows with 28.
Saturday's match will mark the first meeting between Cloud County and Labette since August 2023 when the T-Birds swept the Cardinals at that year's Southeast Community College RKP Invitational in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Cloud County will also face off with the Southwestern Spartans for the first time since August 2023 when the two teams play each other on Saturday. In their last meeting, the T-Birds recorded a 3-0 neutral-site victory at a triangular in Columbus, Nebraska.
