In their final match to conclude an early season eight-match road swing, the Cloud County Community College volleyball team suffered its fifth consecutive loss after being swept by Garden City Community College, 10-25, 15-25, 14-25, in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play at Conestoga Arena in Garden City, Kansas on Wednesday, September 10.
The T-Birds have now fallen to 4-10 overall and 0-2 in conference action. The team will return home on Saturday, September 13 to host a triangular with Labette Community College and Southwestern Community College.
Cloud County will open the weekend on Saturday at 1 pm against Labette Community College before meeting Southwestern on Saturday at 5 pm.
Labette enters this weekend's triangular at 11-6 overall and 1-1 in KJCCC D2 play. The Cardinals dropped a three set loss to No. 5 Johnson County Community College on September 10. Saturday's match will mark the first meeting between Cloud County and Labette since August 2023 when the T-Birds swept the Cardinals at that year's Southeast Community College RKP Invitational in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Cloud County will also face off with the Southwestern Spartans for the first time since August 2023 when the two teams play each other on Saturday. In their last meeting, the T-Birds recorded a 3-0 neutral-site victory at a triangular in Columbus, Nebraska. The Spartans sport a 2-11 record to open the 2025 season and will match up with Marshalltown Community College in Creston, Iowa on Thursday, September 11, prior to make the trip to Concordia, Kansas.
