Box Score 4 The Cloud County Community College volleyball team finished 1-3 at the 2025 McCook Community College Labor Day Weekend Volleyball Tournament, hosted by McCook Community College on Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30.
The T-Birds opened the tournament against Amarillo College, dropping the match in three sets, 18-25, 9-25, 22-25. Sophomore pin hitter
Carlie Carlgren led Cloud County in kills with seven, followed closely by freshman
Kenadie Casanova with five, sophomore
Grace Rowland with four, and freshmen middle hitters
Elizabeth Schuster and
Zoey Sudbeck with three. Freshman setter
Ylvie Schmid supplied 14 assists while freshman
Brooke Lougheed had five. Defensively, sophomore libero
Beatrice Giusti led the team in digs with 18. Lougheed followed with 11. Schmid added ten digs, while freshman defensive specialist
Berkleigh Curtis added nine.
Cloud County rounded out play on Friday by suffering a three set loss to host McCook, falling 19-25, 21-25, 21-25. Rowland led the team offensively with seven kills to go with eight digs. Schuster totaled five kills on a .500 attack percentage. Redshirt freshman setter
Addyson Ogle tallied a team-high six assists, followed by Schmid with five and Lougheed with four. Lougheed and Giusti led the way in digs with 11 apiece.
Cloud County bounced back in its first match Saturday, sweeping Lamar Community College, 25-23, 25-15, 25-20. Casanova led the T-Birds with eight digs on a .218 attack percentage to go along with six digs and three blocks. Carlgren finished with seven kills on a .211 attack percentage. Rowland had six kills and nine digs, while Schuster and Sudbeck had five kills each. Schuster also posted seven service aces. Lougheed ended the match with 30 assists and ten digs. Giusti had a match-high 11 digs.
The T-Birds concluded the tournament with a three set loss to Iowa Western Community College, 17-25, 23-25, 18-25. Rowland paced the team with ten kills and six digs. Carlgren finished with six kills and six digs. Casanova had five kills and seven digs, while Sudbeck followed with four kills and four blocks. Lougheed again led the team with 23 assists. Lougheed and Giusti both tallied a team-high 18 digs. Curtis had eight digs in the match.
Up next, Cloud County travels to Chanute, Kansas to take on the Neosho County Community College Panthers on Monday, September 1 at 5 pm in Panther Gymnasium. Neosho County is 4-1 on the year and coming off a four-set home win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on August 27. Fans can follow the action on X
