Kaden Budke had a run-scoring single, and sophomore
Myles Chamberlain pitched six scoreless innings to help the Cloud County baseball team defeat Southeast Community College, 6-3, in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday, April 8 in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Cloud County has won four in a row and seven of its last eight games to improve to 27-11 overall.
Chamberlain took over after starter
Tyler Elliot exited in the first inning due to an injury. Chamberlain, who had only thrown 14 innings of relief in ten total appearances entering the game, delivered six strong innings of work, allowing no runs while striking out five batters. Redshirt freshman
Hayden Malaise added a scoreless seventh inning in relief, finishing with two strikeouts. Freshman
Sam Brummund earned his fourth save of the season by pitching the ninth, striking out one batter.
In the second inning, Budke hit a hard hit ball through the left side of the infield, bringing in sophomore
Noah Konings for the first run of the game. Freshman
Joey Marino also singled, while freshman
Vasya Seymour loaded the bases by reaching on a walk. Crow followed with a grand slam to deep left-center for his first home run of the season, putting the T-Birds ahead 5-0.
Cloud County scored another run in the top of the third when Budke singled to drive in sophomore
Nolan Freund.
Offensively, the T-Birds scored six runs on six hits. Freund went 2-for-4 with one run scored.
Cloud County returns to action on Thursday, April 10 when it visits Highland Community College for the first two games in a weekend non-conference series.
