Matthew Evans has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Baseball Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday, April 22.
A native of Tillonsburg, Ontario, Canada and a transfer from the University of Nebraska, Evans batted .529 last week with a 1.059 slugging percentage, helping the Cloud County baseball team earn its fifth conference series win of the season by taking three of four games against Butler Community College. Evans had nine hits with two home runs, a triple, and a double in the series. Evans, who had 18 total bases, also tallied five RBI and scored six runs with two stolen bases.
This is the first KJCCC Player of the Week honor for Evans in his career.
Evans and the Cloud County baseball squad return to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference action when they travel to Colby, Kansas to face the Colby Trojans on Wednesday, April 23 at 1 pm.
