A native of north central Kansas, sophomore Jaren Aurand stayed close to home for the opportunity to compete on Cloud County's nationally ranked men's track and field team. While at Cloud, Aurand has also interned with the Cloud County Athletic Department, assisting with game day tasks and in various roles in sports information.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE CLOUD COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE?
I chose Cloud County because of how close it was to home, the track coaching staff, and the opportunity to work hands-on in college athletics. Being close to home has allowed me to have opportunities to further my career path in athletics from working for the athletic department to helping coach with area teams in my free time. The coaches at Cloud County took a big chance on me after a knee injury and never changed their opinion, which further made this the best choice for me.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT ATTENDING SCHOOL AT CLOUD COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE?
I love the teachers and staff and how friendly everyone is. From the school president, to advisors, to teachers and staff, they all make you feel at home and want to help you succeed at school and in life. I also love the culture around the athletic programs. There is support from everyone for all sports all year long, and people congratulate you after a great game or meet.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER GRADUATION?
I plan to attend a four-year university to get a degree in exercise science/sports management. I hope to continue my track and field career at the next level, as well.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OTHER CLOUD COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENTS?
Explore what Cloud County has to offer and be willing to try new and different things. Trying different things has allowed me to find what I have a passion for as well as make great connections that will help me in the future.
