Nolan Freund went 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored, sophomore
Austin Coyle crushed his second home run of the season, and the Cloud County Community College baseball team's offense scored a run in seven of the game's eight innings in their 12-2 home rout of McCook Community College on Thursday, February 6.
The victory marked the second for Cloud County over McCook this week and their fourth consecutive win to start the 2025 season.
Five pitchers combined to throw eight scoreless innings and the T-Birds pounded out 11 hits including two home runs in the team's 6-1 win over McCook on February 2.
Then, on Thursday, Cloud County threw a season-high nine pitchers who combined to limit McCook to one earned run on four hits with 14 strikeouts.
Cohen Nelson struck out three and allowed two hits and one run in a short start. The freshman left-hander from Grand Island, Nebraska improved to 2-0 on the season.

Zach Sharshel recorded four strikeouts over two innings.

Aaron Boutz closed the game allowing one walk with three strikeouts in the ninth.
Freund ended the day 4-for-5 with four RBI, three runs scored and four stolen bases. Freund drove in two runs on a single to left in the first inning. Freund added an RBI single to center in the fourth, and a two-out RBI single to left-center in the sixth. Freund also singled to center in the third, later scoring after a balk was called on McCook pitcher Landon Molloy. Freund ended the game by reaching on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the eighth, eventually scoring for the third time in the contest.
The T-Birds scored multiple runs in three separate frames.

Cloud County plated three runs in the fourth. Evans brought home sophomore
Cam MaCleod on an RBI ground out to second base. After sophomore
Noah Konings reached on an error and stole a base, Freund drove him home on an RBI single to center. Freund then scored on a passed ball to put the score at 7-1 after four.
The T-Birds turned in three runs with two outs in the seventh. Sophomore
Gannon White singled and stole two bases before scoring when freshman
Vasya Seymour reached on an error. Coyle then blasted a two-out, two-run home run to left, swelling the Cloud County lead to 11-2.
Coyle, who led off the game against McCook on February 2 with a solo homer, went 2-for-5 with two RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Coyle had two of Cloud County's three extra-base hits after he tripled to right to lead off the sixth.
Redshirt freshman
David Simmons doubled in the eighth to score Freund to put the T-Birds up by 10 runs.
Seven different players registered a stolen base for the T-Birds, with White successfully stealing three bases.
Cloud County will head to Edmond, Oklahoma for two games in the 2025 Juco Spring Festival on Tuesday, February 11 at Wendell Simmons Field at the University of Central Oklahoma. The T-Birds will play Seminole State College at 9:30 am, followed by a game with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 12 pm.
