Box Score For the first time in seven seasons, the Colby Community College men's basketball team has earned a season sweep of Cloud County Community College.
The Trojans beat the T-Birds by a final score of 77-64 on Wednesday, February 5 at Arley Bryant Gymnasium in Concordia. Colby outscored Cloud County 43-23 in the second half to win the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference matchup.
The victory is Colby's first in Concordia since December 4, 2019. Cloud County has now lost five straight since last beating Pratt Community College at home on January 18.
Freshman forward
Elidjah Savane racked up his eleventh double-double of the year with a team-high 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Savane added 11 rebounds, nine on the defensive end.
Two other T-Birds scored in double-digits. Freshman guard
Syncere Burnette recorded 14 points, five steals and four assists. Sophomore guard
Fallou Koite contributed 14 points and three rebounds.
Cloud County led by as many as 11 points in the first-half after shooting 51.4 percent from the field. In the second-half, the T-Birds were limited to just eight field goals and 25.8 percent shooting, while they were also outrebounded by Colby 26-16 over the final 20 minutes of play.
Next up for the T-Birds is a road contest against Independence Community College. Independence scored a 79-66 win over Cloud County in Concordia on December 7. Tipoff against the Pirates is set for 4 pm Saturday, February 8 from the ICC Fieldhouse.
