Box Score The Cloud County Community College men's basketball team fell to the Dodge City Conquistadors by a score of 81-78 in overtime in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play on Saturday, November 29. This marked Cloud County's third straight conference loss, dropping the T-Birds to 6-4 on the year and 1-3 in KJCCC play, while Dodge City improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in KJCCC action.
Dodge City posted the first seven points of the contest and led by as many as ten points in the first-half. Cloud County closed out the half on a 14-6 scoring run, highlighted by three-pointers from redshirt freshman
Manasseh Stackhouse and freshman
K'mari Holt, to cut the deficit to two points, 31-29, at the intermission.
In the second-half, Cloud County put together an 18-7 scoring run, including 11 points from freshman forward
D'ontez Walker and five points by sophomore wing
Samuel Akot, to lead by nine points at 47-38 with 14:15 remaining.
Dodge City responded with a 7-0 run to trail by two points at 47-45 with 13:23 to play. Cloud County regrouped and went on an 11-2 run, jump-started by a
Samuel Akot three-pointer and capped off by a traditional three-point play by Akot, to grab a double-digit advantage at 58-47 with 9:29 to go.
The T-Birds stayed in front, leading by eight points with just over five minutes remaining. But Dodge City received five straight points from 7-foot-2 sophomore center Wesley Rosa to pull to within three points with 1:21 to play.

Dodge City sophomore guard Derrick Rivers hit a corner three-pointer and then stole Cloud County's inbounds pass, scoring a quick layup to knot the game at 70.
In the overtime period, both teams would go back-and-forth before Dodge City widened the margin to five points on back-to-back field-goals by Rosa. Cloud County closed the gap to two points on a layup by
Kuel Akot, but Dodge City sealed the win with four consecutive free-throws in the final 18-seconds.
Rosa led the way for Dodge City with a triple-double, netting 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go with 15 rebounds and 13 blocked shots. Rivers had 18 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists. Sophomore guard Ricky Loftin II registered 17 points, while freshman guard Andrew Mabry logged 13 points.
Samuel Akot posted season-highs in points, rebounds, steals and blocked shots to lead the way for Cloud County. Akot had 19 points with three made three-pointers. Additionally, Akot grabbed eight rebounds and collected four steals and three blocked shots in 31 minutes on the floor.

Elidjah Savane recorded a double-double with 15 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Walker was also in double-figures with 13 points, while freshman
Kaidan Chatham had nine points and a team-high five assists in 40 minutes off the bench.
Dodge City won the battle in the paint, scoring 46 points compared to Cloud County's 42. The Conquistadors also logged 16 fast-break points, compared to the T-Birds' eight. Cloud County had eight steals and posted 18 points off turnovers. Cloud County also had 46 points off the bench, compared to Dodge City's 19.
The T-Birds are back in action on Saturday, December 6 when they travel to Colby, Kansas to face the Colby Trojans in KJCCC play. The opening tip inside the Colby Event Center is scheduled for 3 pm.
