The Cloud County Community College men's basketball team will face its second-ranked opponent in a four-day span when they travel to Arkansas City, Kansas on Tuesday, November 25 for a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchup with No. 23 Cowley College at 7:30 pm. Cloud County (6-2, 1-1 KJCCC) is coming off a narrow 78-76 setback on November 22 to Barton Community College in KJCCC play. The T-Birds saw its five-game winning streak end despite leading by eight points with just over five minutes to go. Following the win, Barton jumped from No. 17 to No. 11 in the latest NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Rankings, and is the highest ranked of three KJCCC-ranked schools ahead of No. 15 Coffeyville and No. 23 Cowley. Garden City Community College is also receiving votes in this week's poll.
Cowley College dropped 13 spots in this week's rankings and will be looking to end a two-game losing skid after a 71-64 home loss to Murray State College and a 78-75 road loss to Dodge City Community College in their KJCCC opener. The Tigers currently sit at 5-2 overall and 0-1 in KJCCC play.
The T-Birds average 94.3 points per game and have a +17.4 scoring margin. Cloud County pulls down a KJCCC-leading 47.3 rebounds per contest with a +14.6 rebound margin. Cloud County is making 48.6 percent from the field, including 30.8 percent from three-point range. The T-Birds are holding opponents to 41.3 percent shooting from the field and 30.4 percent shooting from long-range. Cloud County also averages 15.0 assists, 11.8 steals, and 3.6 blocked shots per game.
Redshirt freshmanÂ
Manasseh Stackhouse led Cloud County with 16 points and nine rebounds in the team's home defeat to Barton. Stackhouse has scored in double-digits in six games this season. Stackhouse is second on the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game on 53.6 percent shooting from the floor. He's also second on the team in rebounding at 7.0 rebounds per game.
After his 14 points against Barton, freshman forward
D'ontez Walker is now averaging 11.4 points per game on a team-best 67.3 percent field-goal percentage. Walker also pulls down 5.5 rebounds per contest.
Sophomore guard
Syncere Burnette is averaging 10.1 points per game with 14 made three-pointers on the year. Burnette also leads the team at 3.8 assists per game. He recorded 13 points and a season-high eight rebounds against Barton.
Sophomore forward
Elidjah Savane is scoring 11.9 points per game on 60.0 percent shooting from the floor to go with 6.0 rebounds per game. Savane led the team on the glass with 10 rebounds against Barton.
Freshman forward
Al Brooks Jr. leads the team in scoring at 18.8 points per game on 53.6 percent shooting. Brooks is also averaging a conference-best 9.8 rebounds per contest to go with 2.1 blocks, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Sophomore guard
Kuel Akot is scoring 8.6 points per game. Akot has made a team-best 17 three-pointers this season.
