The Cloud County Community College wrestling team sent ten wrestlers to Indianola, Iowa for the 2025 Luther Hill Invitational at Simpson College on Saturday, November 1, and the T-Birds had seven wrestlers come away with wins. Freshman

Tucker Jackson each went 2-2 on the day, while sophomores
Micah Cauthers and
Gael Garcia and freshmen
Brayden Hill,
Dionisio Holguin and
Drew Sterrett claimed one win each.
Gibson (141 lbs.) lost a 14-5 major decision to Iowa Western freshman Cole Fenwick in his first match of the day. In the consolation bracket, Gibson earned a second period fall over Buena Vista University sophomore Tien Pham and a tight 12-11 decision over Central Community College freshman Nicholas Trujillo. Gibson's day came to an end in the consolation third round when he dropped a 19-4 technical fall to Iowa Western freshman Hudson Palmer.
Jackson (184 lbs.) started the day with a first period pin over Southeast Community College freshman Jayden Chapman. In the championship quarterfinals, Jackson lost a 12-7 decision to Southeast Community College freshman Jack Doughty. In the consolation bracket, Jackson captured another first period pin, this time over Central Community College freshman Clayton Isham, before losing in the consolation third round by an 8-7 decision to freshman Cole Martin of Central Community College.
Cauthers (174 lbs.) received a win in his first round match over St. Ambrose University freshman Treagan Hansen by a 22-11 major decision, before forfeiting his next two bouts to Southeast Community College freshman Anthony Smith and Iowa Western freshman Mark Villanueva.
Garcia (125 lbs.) suffered a first period pin at the hands of Iowa Western freshman Aiden Bastian in his opening round match. Garcia regrouped to take a 4-1 decision over Indian Hills sophomore Sam Beltowski in a consolation contest, before ending the tournament with a loss by fall to William Penn University sophomore Gentry Walston in the consolation second round.
Hill (285 lbs.) earned a first period fall over McMurry University freshman Yahlya Said, before dropping a 5-3 decision to Indian Hills sophomore Justin Brown in the championship quarterfinals. In his final match of the tournament, Hill lost an 8-2 decision to Quincy University freshman Roy Phelps in the consolation second round.
Holguin (197 lbs.) claimed a 19-3 technical fall victory over Grand View University freshman Nate Wade in his first round match. Holguin stumbled in the championship quarterfinals, dropping a 13-7 decision to Central Community College freshman Ryan Rainey, before exiting the tournament by a first period fall to Benedictine College sophomore Doug Blaha in the consolation bracket.
Sterrett (141 lbs.) captured a first period fall over Southeast Community College freshman Miguel Andrusia in his first collegiate match. In the championship quarterfinals, Sterrett lost an 18-7 major decision to Iowa Western freshman Ross Bratetic. Sterrett concluded the tournament losing by a second period fall to Central Community College freshman Nicolas Trujillo.
Cloud County's
Nicholas Davis (157 lbs.),
Luke Potter (133 lbs.) and
Jacob Vasquez (165 lbs.) all finished 0-2 in the tournament.
The T-Birds are back at it next weekend on Saturday, November 8 at the Maverick Open hosted by Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
