The Cloud County Community College volleyball team will return to the court Monday, October 13 with two matches at a triangular hosted by Pratt Community College. The T-Birds will take on the Pratt Community College Beavers in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play at 4 pm, before meeting McPherson College JV at 6 pm.
Cloud County heads into the triangular with a 6-20 overall record and a 0-10 mark in KJCCC play, having lost back-to-back conference matches at home, including a three-set home loss to Garden City Community College on October 11. Sophomore outside hitter
Iza Caroline da Silva topped all T-Bird players with eight kills in the match. Sophomore pin hitter
Carlie Carlgren scored seven kills, eight digs and four blocks. Freshman middle hitter
Elizabeth Schuster recorded five kills, while freshman middle blocker
Zoey Sudbeck provided four kills and four blocks. Redshirt freshman setter
Addyson Ogle tallied 15 assists to go with nine digs. Freshman setter
Ylvie Schmid added eight assists and three digs. Sophomore libero
Beatrice Giusti led Cloud County defensively with 12 digs. Freshman defensive specialist
Brooke Lougheed posted eight digs, while freshman pin hitter
Kenadie Casanova finished with seven digs to go with three kills.
Cloud County and Pratt previously faced off in Concordia on October 4 with the Beavers sweeping the match by set scores of 22-25, 22-25, 15-25. Sudbeck paced Cloud County in the match, finishing with with nine kills on a .333 attack percentage. Carlgen and da Silva had seven kills apiece. Carlgren also added eight digs. Casanova chipped in five kills. Ogle dished out 31 of the team's 33 assists in the match. Lougheed led the defensive effort with 11 digs. Giusti picked up eight digs.
The T-Birds had won nine straight meetings over Pratt before the Beavers won both meetings in 2024 and their most recent match in 2025. Pratt is currently 11-18 overall and 2-8 in KJCCC action, coming off back-to-back conference losses to Hutchinson and Seward County.
Cloud County does hold an early season win over McPherson College JV, defeating them in five sets at a home triangular on August 27. The T-Birds rallied to win the match by set scores of 23-25, 25-20, 14-25, 25-23, 15-8. As a team, Cloud County posted 61 kills, 74 digs and 17 blocks while hitting .222 in the match. Carlgren's 17 kills were a team-high. Schuster followed with 13 kills, doing so on a .650 attack percentage. Schuster also had 10 digs and four blocks. Sudbeck totaled nine kills on a .500 attack percentage with four blocks. Casanova added five kills and four blocks. On the defensive end, Schmid paced the team with 16 digs to go with a team-high 47 assists. Lougheed followed closely with 12 digs. Carlgren and Giusti finished with seven digs each, while Ogle recorded five digs.
The T-Birds have won three of their last four matches against McPherson College JV, with three of the four matches going to at least four sets.
