Box Score The Cloud County Community College volleyball team fought hard but ultimately fell short in a four-set loss to Butler Community College in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play on Wednesday, September 25. Despite a strong effort, the T-Birds lost 19-25, 25-23, 20-25, 23-25.
Cloud County's offensive charge was led by sophomore
Bradie Medina. Medina, the current Offensive Player of the Week in the Jayhawk Conference, recorded 16 kills and 19 digs. Freshman
Karoline Schroeder followed with eight kills. Sophomore
Kloë Waymel provided seven kills, four service aces, six digs and two block assists. Freshman
Carlie Carlgren had six kills, six digs and two block assists, while sophomore
Emery May added five kills, four digs and three block assists.
Freshman setter
Maria Clara Lopes Miranda tallied 31 assists, eight digs and three block assists.
Defensively, freshman
Beatrice Giusti led the team with 23 digs. Freshman libero
Reachert Chiquin contributed nine digs. Freshman libero
Berkleigh Curtis had seven digs and two assists, while sophomore
Ashley Suter added seven digs.
The T-Birds (5-12, 0-6 KJCCC) will take on Pratt Community College at home on Saturday, September 28 at 3 pm. Pratt dropped a four-set match to Hutchinson on Wednesday, 25-23, 18-25, 19-25, 18-25, to now sit at 4-14 on the season and 1-5 in conference play.
