The Cloud County Community College volleyball team is set to host the Butler Community College Grizzlies on Wednesday, September 25 inside Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
Cloud County (5-11, 0-5 KJCCC) enters the weeknight matchup after most recently sweeping two opponents in a home triangular in Concordia on Friday, September 20. The T-Birds swept the Otero Junior College Rattlers in the first match, 25-21, 25-16, 25-15, and then defeated the Southeast Community College Bobcats in another three-set match, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.
Butler Community College (9-10, 2-3 KJCCC) comes into Wednesday after splitting its four matches in the Blue Dragon Classic in Hutchinson on September 20 and September 21. The Grizzlies were swept by Missouri State University - West Plains and McCook Community College, but picked up two wins in straight sets over Labette and Iowa Western.
The T-Birds will be looking to earn their first conference win of the season. Cloud County's last conference victory was a three-set home win over the Pratt Community College Beavers on October 28, 2023. Last year, the T-Birds split their regular season matches with Butler, topping the Grizzlies at home in four-sets before going on to drop a five-set thriller to Butler in El Dorado.
Butler enters this midweek match with an 0-5 record on the road this season. The Grizzlies have been swept on the road this season by Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference opponents Barton Community College and Seward County Community College.
The Cloud County offense is led by sophomore
Bradie Medina, who ranks fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.14). Medina has a team-high 179 kills so far. Medina is also fourth in the conference in digs per set (4.35). Freshman
Maria Clara Lopes Miranda and sophomore
Ashley Suter both rank in the top 12 in the conference in assists per set at 4.90 and 4.29, respectively. Sophomore
Kloë Waymel is fifth in the conference with 29 service aces on the year.
