Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College volleyball team earned a pair of wins against Otero Junior College and Southeast Community College in a triangular inside Arley Bryant Gymnasium on Friday, September 20. The T-Birds swept both opponents to improve to 5-11 on the season.
In their first meeting with the Otero Rattlers since 2016, Cloud County swept the match, 25-21, 25-16, 25-15. Sophomore
Bradie Medina led the way with a match-high 16 kills and 15 digs. Freshman
Maria Clara Lopes Miranda had a double-double with 32 assists, 10 digs and two service aces. Freshman
Karoline Schroeder tallied seven kills. Freshman
Carlie Carlgren provided six kills, three digs and two block assists. Freshman
Grace Rowland had four kills, while sophomoreÂ
Kloë Waymel added four kills, four service aces, and four digs.
The T-Birds carried momentum into their second match, taking down the Southeast Community College Bobcats, 25-17, 25-20, 25-16. The victory marked Cloud County's 12th straight over Southeast, dating back to 2014. Medina had another double-double with 11 kills, 13 digs and one solo block. Carlgren chipped in eight kills. Waymel finished with five kills and two block assists. Rowland turned in four kills and three digs, while Schroeder had three kills. Miranda finished with a match-high 30 assists, five digs and three block assists. Defensively, freshman
Beatrice Giusti tallied nine digs. Sophomore
Ashley Suter picked up five digs, while freshmen
Berkleigh Curtis and
Reachert Chiquin had four digs each.
The T-Birds will be at home on Wednesday, September 25 at 6:30 pm as they host the Butler Grizzlies in a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference matchup at Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
