The Cloud County Community College volleyball team (3-9, 0-3 KJCCC) will conclude a three-match homestand this weekend when they host the Garden City Broncbusters (7-4, 1-1 KJCCC) for a conference match on Saturday, September 14 at 5:30 pm.
The match will be streamed live on the
T-Bird Sports Network.
The T-Birds' most recent outing resulted in a 3-0 loss to the Dodge City Conquistadors on Wednesday, September 11 in Arley Bryant Gymnasium. Sophomore
Bradie Medina led Cloud County with a team-high 14 kills, nine digs and two block assists. Freshman
Grace Rowland had seven kills and two block assists. Freshman
Carlie Carlgren tallied six kills, six digs and four total blocks, including one solo stuff. Sophomore
Emery May posted eight total blocks to go along with four kills and two digs. Freshman
Beatrice Giusti led the team with 12 digs. Sophomore Kloë Waymel added seven digs, three kills and one block assist. Sophomore
Ashley Suter chipped in 18 assists and three digs, while freshman
Savana Krupicka dished out eight assists.
Medina currently ranks third in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division I in kills with 138. Medina has the fourth highest kills per set average (3.14), and is third on the digs per set list (4.70). May has the fifth best blocks per set average in the conference (0.95).
The Garden City Broncbusters won their first conference match of the season on Wednesday, September 11, defeating the Hutchinson Blue Dragons at home in a five-set thriller, 20-25, 27-25, 25-15, 19-25, 15-9. The Broncbusters are led by six-foot sophomore outside hitter Julia Brazil who has 113 kills on the season. Freshman libero Vitoria Stedile anchors the defense with 242 digs on the year, an average of 6.05 digs per set.
