Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College volleyball team was defeated in its final two matches of the 2024 Dallas College Eastfield Invitational on Saturday, August 24. The T-Birds fell to the Independence Pirates, 24-26, 18-25, 19-25, and then lost to Dallas College Eastfield, 9-25, 13-25, 20-25.
Freshman
Grace Rowland posted a team-high seven kills in the three-set loss to Independence (1-2). Sophomore
Bradie Medina had six kills and 15 digs. Freshman libero
Berkleigh Curtis finished with a match-high 16 digs. Sophomores
Emery May and
Tara Rajkovic each finished with three kills. Sophomore
Ashley Suter added two kills, 11 digs and a team-best 21 assists.
Medina led the charge with six kills and 15 digs in the team's match up against Dallas College Eastfield (4-0), the defending NJCAA Division III National Champions and the current No. 1 ranked club in Division III. Rowland posted five kills in the loss. Suter chipped in three kills, nine digs and nine assists. Curtis had seven digs and one assist. Freshman
Reachert Chiquin finished with four digs. The T-Birds finished the match with only 19 kills.
Cloud County ends its first weekend at 0-3 overall. The T-Birds look to regroup when they travel to Columbus, Nebraska for a midweek showdown with last year's NJCAA Region 9 champions, the Central Community College Raiders, on Wednesday, August 28 at 6 pm. Central Community College opened its 2024 campaign with two matches at home on Saturday, topping Southwestern Community College in straight sets, 25-7, 25-7, 25-19, before besting Western Iowa Tech Community College in four sets, 25-19, 21-25, 25-16, 25-20. The Raiders topped the T-Birds twice last season, both in four sets.
