#11 Dodge City Shoots Past Cloud County Women In 91-72 Home Defeat For T-Birds

CONCORDIA, Kan. - Allowing a season-high 15 made three-point field goals to their opposition, the Cloud County Community College women's basketball team suffered a 91-72 home setback to number-11 nationally-ranked Dodge City Community College inside Arley Bryant Gymnasium on Wednesday, February 7th. 

Dropping a third-straight game to fall to 12-10 overall, Cloud County is now 8-9 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference while Dodge City maintains its hold on second-place in the KJCCC by improving to 20-3 overall and 14-3 in the KJCCC. 

For the contest, Cloud County shot just 35.3 percent from the floor by hitting 24-of-68 field goal attempts which included a seven-for-18 (38.9 percent) effort from beyond the arc along with a 68 percent (17-for-25) free-throw shooting percentage. Dodge City connected on 33-of-70 (47.1 percent) of their shots including a 15-of-34 (44.1 percent) three-point field goal outing while also making 10-of-12 free throw attempts. CCCC held a 44-42 advantage in rebounds over the Conquistadors but saw 19 turnovers lead lead to 18 points for Dodge City as DC3 also held a 34-28 advantage in points in the paint and a 14-8 advantage in fast break points. 

Individually, the T-Birds had four starters reach double figures including a game-high 23 from Josephine Igherighe who also had eight rebounds and one block. Bailey Burns had her third outing of the season of 20 or more points after finishing with 20 points and six rebounds with four made three-point field goals while Maimouna Sissoko scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Dodge City was led by a 19-point outing from Parris Atkins as four starters reached double-figures for the Conquistadors. 

What's Next?
Cloud County closes out its week with a trip to undefeated and number two nationally-ranked Hutchinson Community College for a 2 PM tilt on Saturday, February 10th. The Blue Dragons improved to 22-0 on the season with a 92-62 beating of Pratt on the road Wednesday evening and are a perfect 16-0 in the KJCCC. Back in December when the two teams met in Concordia, Hutchinson earned a 77-50 win over the T-Birds.
