Box Score The Cloud County Community College volleyball team dropped its final road match of the fall on Wednesday, October 30, losing in four sets at Pratt (13-25, 25-22, 17-25, 16-25). The T-Birds fall to 7-22 overall and 0-15 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play.
Pratt pounced early, racing out to a 6-1 lead to open set one. The Beavers never relinquished control, building its first double-digit lead at 18-8 before earning a 12 point win, 25-13. Cloud responded by seizing control at the start of set two. The T-Birds jumped out to a 6-0 lead that soon turned into a double-digit advantage at 17-7. Pratt charged back, getting as close as two at 24-22, before Cloud County was able to finish off the set victory with a block by sophomore
Kloë Waymel. Pratt once again bolted out to a fast start in the third set, quickly capturing an 8-3 advantage. The T-Birds chipped away at their lead, eventually tying the set at 16-all. The Beavers regrouped and put together a 7-0 scoring run to lead 23-16, before finishing off a 25-17 win. A determined Pratt team kept the momentum going in the fourth set by scoring four of the first five points. The Beavers eventually built their lead out to 17-11. Cloud County cut it down to a three point game at 18-15 following a kill by freshman
Grace Rowland, but would get not closer from there. Pratt clinched the win by assembling a 7-1 scoring run to take the set, 25-16.
Sophomore
Bradie Medina led the way for Cloud County. Medina recorded her 19th double-double of the year after registering a team-high 13 kills and 16 digs. Rowland also had double-digit kills with 11. Freshman
Carlie Carlgren added eight kills.
Defensively, freshman libero
Berkleigh Curtis finished with 16 digs. Freshman
Beatrice Giusti chipped in 13 digs. Sophomore
Ashley Suter and freshman
Maria Clara Lopes Miranda both tallied seven digs.
Miranda provided a team-high 19 assists. Freshman
Savana Krupicka added 15 assists.
The T-Birds host Barton Community College on Saturday, November 2 at 3 pm for the season finale. The match will be broadcast on the
T-Bird Sports Network.
