Box Score Playing in their first five-set contest of the 2024 season, the Cloud County Community College volleyball team fell just short in a road Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference battle with Garden City on Wednesday, October 16 in Conestoga Arena, (17-25, 15-25, 25-22, 26-24, 10-15).
The T-Birds battled down-to-the-wire in search of their first conference win of the year. Cloud County landed their blows in the third and fourth frames, however their late rally came up five points shy.
Cloud County now stands at 5-18 overall and 0-12 in conference play. Garden City has improved to 11-9 overall and 5-6 in KJCCC action.
Freshman
Grace Rowland led the T-Bird offense with 20 kills to go along with five digs and three block assists. Sophomore
Bradie Medina posted her 22nd double-double of her career, including her 15th of the season, by tallying 14 kills and 18 digs. Sophomore
Emery May provided four kills, five assists and four block assists. Sophomore
Kloë Waymel and freshman
Carlie Carlgren both finished with four kills each.
Freshman setter
Savana Krupicka dished out a team-high 26 assists, marking her third straight match with 20 assists or more. Krupicka also had eight digs and two block assists.
Defensively, freshman libero
Berkleigh Curtis led Cloud County with 22 digs. Freshman
Maria Clara Lopes Miranda added 12 digs and 14 assists.
The T-Birds return home to host Hutchinson Community College on Saturday, October 19 in Arley Bryant Gymnasium for Cloud County's annual Pink Out match. First serve is set for 3 pm.
