CCCC Men's Basketball Earns First Win At Seward Since 2016 With 73-71 Victory

LIBERAL, Kan. – Behind a career-high 35-point effort from freshman Abdoulaye Fall, the Cloud County Community College men's basketball traded blows back and forth with host Seward County Community College before scoring eight of the final 13 points over the final 1:26 of play to secure a 73-71 road win inside the Greenhouse in Liberal, Kansas on Wednesday, January 24th.

With wins in Liberal being far and few in between historically, Cloud County defeats Seward County on their home court for the first time since November 19, 2016, when CCCC earned an 88-78 win while improving to 14-5 on the season and 9-4 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. The win in Liberal marks just the fifth time dating back to the 2000-01 season that Cloud County has won inside the Greenhouse as Seward sees a three-game winning streak snapped to fall to 6-13 overall and 4-9 in the KJCCC.

The 35-point outing for Fall came on 10-of-19 shooting along with a 12-for-14 performance from the charity stripe as the Dakar, Senegal native has reached double figures in 10 of the past 11 games. Adding 14 points off the bench with four-of-seven shooting from beyond the arc was Isaiah Sy to go along with six rebounds while Ja'Ron Briggs Jr. scored 12 points and had six assists to give CCCC three players finishing in double-figures. Seward County was led by a team-high 27 points from Ryle Riddlespurger who did not play in the first contest between teams before managing to hit nine three-point attempts on Wednesday to finish with the second-most in Seward County single-game history. The SCCC starting five was limited to just 13 points on the night, with the remaining 58 points coming from bench players.

What's Next?
A chance to complete another historical milestone is up next for Cloud County as the T-Birds will play host to Coffeyville Community College for a 4 PM contest on Saturday, January 27th. Having won the previous two matchups with the Red Ravens, CCCC will look for their first three-game winning streak over Coffeyville since earning three consecutive wins against the Red Ravens between the 2008-09 and 2011-12 seasons. Since head coach Devin Kastrup took over at the helm of the T-Birds, Cloud County has won three of the five matchups between the two teams which included a 63-43 win at Coffeyville on November 21 of this season. Coffeyville has dropped four of their past six contests including a 74-71 road defeat at Pratt on Wednesday evening to sit at 9-10 overall and 5-8 in the KJCCC.
